Kona and her husband had 13 children but 7 died during the Liberian Civil War. She and her husband used to make soap. In fact, she was known as the “soap woman” in my community. About a year ago, their youngest child got seriously sick. Kona and her husband spend their entire savings of about $150 USD equivalent for their daughter’s hospital bills and medication. Their daughter eventually recovered, but they are out of funds to re-start their business.These are photos of Kona receiving her new supply of selling goods to now be able to successfully start her very own business.
