Esther has 3 children and 4 grand children. She has been taking care of someone’s house for the last 5 years. She told me that she has been doing “small, small business”. One day in February, 2016 she and her kids were getting ready for their day when they heard a crowd of people screaming outside… to her surprise, the land that she was hired to take care of was already owned by and another person. Unfortunately, this is a very organized crime here in Liberia where land will be sold to more than one person. The original owner of the land came with a bull dozer and plowed down any home that was build on his land. Esther and her family were left homeless. They have all moved into her oldest daughters’ one room that she’s been renting for she and her 4 children. Imagine 8 people living in a one room space (literally ONE room). Esther said she has been praying since she had heard about Girl Power… praying that she too could get some well needed assistance. These are photos of Esther receiving her new supply of selling goods to now be able to successfully start her very own business.
