DOROTHY: E444-SAN

JUNE 2022:  47-year-old Dorothy lives in Sanniquellie, Nimba County with her
two adult and two teenage children (ages 26 to10). She has lived in her older
brother’s household since she was a teenager. He supported Dorothy and her
children but died of Ebola in 2014.  Though thankful that she can still live in her
brother’s house, Dorothy has been struggling to support her children.  Though
barely providing daily meals for the household, Dorothy could not sustain the cost
of maintaining her older children in school.  She is proud of the fact that her two
younger children are in school and the older ones assist her to provide for the
household and sustain tuition and other school fees for the younger ones.  Doris
has been selling a local dish called GB (a pounded cassava dough mixture served
with a savory, spicy stew). She desires to expand her business to another site.  Girl
Power is honored to walk alongside Dorothy and has offered her a business
package to strengthen her GB market.  A donation from the Girl Power Africa
General Fund has given Dorothy and her household a hand up.
