Winifred barely passed to second grade. Her teachers shared she exhibits good behavior but is in need of tutoring. When we met with her, she appeared shy and a bit withdrawn. However, when asked if she was ready for school she brightened up and was all smiles! The desire to attend school is at the heart of all Liberian children. Thanks to GPA amazing sponsor network for actively affirming The Convention on the Rights of the Child to acquire an education. Sponsored by: James Barker

Thanks to the generous donation from James Barker, Winifred has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Winifred was kept in her current grade level of 1st grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her uncle and still wants to be a nurse when she grows up.

Meet Winifred, who has been generously sponsored by Brittany Hall. She is 9 years old and is in the 1st grade this year. She lives in Borsonnor Town, Liberia with her uncle. According to the uncle, the father went on the farm to cut down a tree and that tree fell on him and killed him. Rose’s uncle has cared for her since. Her interests are to help save lives and she hopes to be a nurse when she grows up.
