Sharley is now 12 years old and is in the second grade. Over the past year, her living situation changed when her mother struggled to provide for the family and Sharley was sent to live with another relative. Unfortunately, while living there, she was not able to attend school. Wanting a better future, Sharley made the difficult journey back to her mother, determined to return home and continue her education. When she returned, she tearfully asked to be welcomed back into the program so she could go to school again. Today, Sharley is back living with her mother and has been given another opportunity to continue her education. When asked what she is most grateful for, she shared that she is thankful to be accepted back and able to attend school this year. Sharley continues to hold onto her dream of becoming a teacher one day. Her courage, determination, and desire to learn show her strong hope for a brighter future. Sponsored by: Phil Vasby

Meet Sharley, who has been generously sponsored by Phil Vasby. She is 8 years old and is in K-1 this year. She lives in Gehwee, Liberia with her mother. Sharley’s father denied the pregnancy. This brought shame and disgrace to her young mother. Currently, Sharley’s mother is unemployed and could not afford to send her to school. Her interests playing games and she hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.
