Shalley is a bright and determined 10-year-old girl who is in the second grade this year. Her journey to this moment has not been easy. For years, Shalley’s education has been interrupted. Each time she would begin a new school year, she would eventually be pulled out because her family could not afford uniforms, school fees, or basic school materials. The disappointment of not finishing what she started became a painful pattern in her young life. After her parents separated, Shalley remained with her mother, who now struggles to care for all five of her children on her own. Despite her mother’s best efforts, the financial burden has made it nearly impossible to keep the children in school consistently. Shalley has been on the waiting list for Girl Power Africa for several years, hoping and praying that one day her name would be called. This year, that day finally came. When she learned she had been accepted into the program, she was beside herself with joy. It was a moment she had been waiting for—a second chance to continue her education without interruption. Shalley dreams of becoming a doctor when she grows up. When we asked her favorite subject, she quickly answered, “Science.” When we asked why, she smiled confidently and said, “Because I’m good at it.” That simple response speaks volumes about her belief in herself and her abilities. Shalley is determined not to waste this opportunity. She wants to finish what she starts and build a future where she can help others through medicine. To her sponsor: thank you for giving Shalley the chance she has been waiting for. Your support means she will no longer have to leave school because of unpaid fees or missing materials. You are giving her stability, hope, and the opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. Sponsored by: Scott Heise
