Ruth is a spirited 12-year-old girl in the Kindergarten-2 grade this year. Her life took a difficult turn two years ago when both her parents abandoned her. Upon learning of her situation, her uncle stepped in and brought Ruth to live with him, his two wives, and their eight children. While life in her uncle’s household is busy and often demanding, Ruth has found a place to belong and thrive. In her new village, Ruth has joined the church choir, where her voice brings joy to her community. Singing allows her to express herself and find moments of peace amid her responsibilities. When asked what her favorite thing to do in her spare time was, Ruth laughed and said, “We don’t have spare time. We work, go to school, come home, work, then do homework and go to sleep when it’s too black outside to see our homework.” Her response reflects the resilience and dedication she has embraced in her daily life. Despite the challenges, Ruth dreams of a brighter future. Her determination to pursue education and her positive attitude shine through in everything she does. With the right support, Ruth has the potential to overcome her obstacles and achieve her goals, becoming a testament to the strength of the human spirit. Sponsored by: Mary Jo Kruger
