September 2021: Thanks to the generous donation from Peggy & John Sundquist, Princess has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020-2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021-2022 school year. Princess was kept in her current grade level of 9th grade for the upcoming school year. Princess is pregnant and is still attending school. She said that she wants to be a good example for her child.  Princess continues to live with her mother and still wants to be a cook when she grows up.

Princess told the GPA team during her interview: “I need help because my father abandoned my ma and ran away on us. He left all of the responsibility with my ma alone. My ma is not able to care for all 8 of us because we are plenty work for her alone. We need help. I really want to go to school and I afraid she will not be able to send me because she just doesn’t have the money for all 8 of us to go do school”.  Princess hopes to be a cook when she grows up.
