2024
Patience was promoted to the 7th grade this year, and her new favorite subject is science. Despite living in a deplorable and difficult situation with her mother, Patience is determined to rise above her challenges. She and her mother live in a “math round,” which is barely a house, and her father remains extremely ill, unable to provide any financial support to the family. In spite of these hardships, Patience is very serious about her education. She attends school regularly and is deeply committed to breaking free from the poverty they face. After school, she helps her family by drawing water and cooking. Her teachers speak highly of her dedication and perseverance, describing her as a hardworking and committed student. Patience is an inspiration, showing remarkable strength and determination to create a brighter future for herself and her family. Sponsored by: Jane Burnett

Meet Patience, who has been generously sponsored by Lana Howard Meyers. She is 9 years old and in the kindergarten this year. She lives in Duazon, Liberia with her mother and father. Patience’s father, who used to be a soap maker, has been seriously sick and unable to work. Also, her brother who used to ride a motorcycle for living and helped to support the family, disappeared about 5 months ago and has not been heard from. Her family has been in total disarray searching for him. Her interests are helping her mom and she hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.
