Othello is now 11 years old and is repeating Kindergarten 2 this year. After a nationwide reassessment of several schools in Liberia, his school reviewed student placements and determined that Othello would benefit from strengthening his foundation before moving on to first grade. While he was disappointed at first, this decision was made to ensure he is fully prepared and confident for the next level. Othello continues to live with his mother, who is still unemployed and doing her best to care for the family. Life remains challenging, and Othello still helps at home whenever he can. He understands that his family depends on him, and he takes his responsibilities seriously. Despite repeating K2, Othello has not given up on his dreams. He still hopes to become a tailor one day, imagining himself sewing beautiful clothes and building a better future for his family. He also still loves soccer, even though he doesn’t always have as much time to play as he would like. This extra year will help Othello build a stronger academic foundation so he can move forward with confidence. He remains determined, hopeful, and hardworking. Thank you for continuing to support Othello and giving him the opportunity to grow and succeed.

Othello is a 10-year-old boy with big dreams and a strong work ethic. This year, he is in Kindergarten2, but his path to education is not an easy one. He lives with his mother, who is currently unemployed and unable to send Othello and his siblings to school regularly. Despite the challenges, Othello remains hopeful about his future and dreams of becoming a tailor when he grows up. He envisions a future where he can sew clothes for people, creating beautiful garments with his own hands. In addition to his studies, Othello helps out at home, taking on extra responsibilities. His mother’s unemployment means that there is always work to be done, and Othello is always ready to lend a hand. As a result, he doesn’t have as much time as he’d like to play soccer, his favorite sport. He loves the game and enjoys playing with his friends, but his family’s needs often come first, leaving him with little time for fun. Despite these challenges, Othello’s determination remains strong. His dreams of becoming a tailor and his love for soccer show that he is a boy full of ambition, creativity, and energy. Even though life is tough, Othello is dedicated to making his dreams come true, one step at a time. Sponsored by: Ann Dencker & Gary Peroutka
