Ophelia is now in the 6th grade, and her love for English is shining through. She enjoys reading and writing, even though she’s very quiet in class. Her teachers have noticed her determination and how much effort she puts into her studies. After school, Ophelia heads home to help her mom with cooking, something she does every day without complaint. Though she’s shy, her hard work speaks volumes, and everyone at school admires her dedication. Her teachers believe she has the potential to achieve great things if she continues to work as hard as she does. Sponsored by: Elisa Rodarte

Meet Ophelia, who has been generously sponsored by Phil Vasby. She is 9 years old and is in the 2nd grade this year. She lives in Gbapa, Liberia with her mother. She has never met her father because he abandoned the family when she was born. She helps around the house by drawing water every day from the well and cooking. Her interests are doing nice styles in people’s hair and she hopes to be a beautician when she grows up.
