Melvina is repeating second grade this year after missing many days last year due to illness. Her favorite subjects are English and math, and her teacher notes that she is trying hard and is determined to succeed. Her goal this year is to pass to the next grade and continue growing academically. Melvina remains committed to her studies and is motivated to make the most of every opportunity to learn. Eight-year-old Melvina was retained in kindergarten (K2) class. Her teacher says she needs extra tutoring. While fulfilling other age-appropriate academic milestones, a major pre-requisite for passing to first grade is the student must spell and write his/her name and a few other words. Melvina was unable to fully complete this task. Her teacher thinks one more year with working more closely with Melvina to provide the supportive tutoring she needs and deserves. GPA is happy to give Melvina another chance to pursue her educational journey. She still wants to be a doctor and is very grateful for Grace and Charlotte Brimeyer. Meet Melvina, who has been generously sponsored by Scott & Chasity Brimeyer. She is 6 years old and is going to school for the first time in ABC. She lives in Borsonnor Town, Liberia with her uncle. She has been abandoned by both parents and her uncle is now raising her. Her interests are to help playing with her sister and she hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
