Marie returned for her 2025 school registration and proudly shared that she passed the 5th grade and has been promoted to the 6th grade. She reported doing well in school last year and continues to enjoy science as her favorite subject. Marie lives with her mother, who motivates her to keep learning, as her father is not present to help support the home. She is grateful that Girl Power Africa has provided her school materials and paid her school fees, which helps relieve the struggle her mother faces. Marie’s goal this year is to become a class prefect, and in the future she hopes to become a scientist so she can help her younger brother and sister and her community. She shared that since receiving support from GPA, things have gotten much better for her. Sponsored by: Beth Tetzlaff

Marie was promoted to the third grade this year, and she continues to shine with her determination and resilience. Her favorite subject is math, where she excels and enjoys solving problems. Despite her young age, Marie shoulders significant responsibilities at home. After school, she goes straight to the market to buy food for the family. She then makes several trips to the creek, hauling about 10 gallons of water for cooking and cleaning. Once the water is fetched, Marie prepares the meals, cleans the house, and ensures everything is in order before settling down to complete her assignments. Marie is an incredibly hardworking girl, balancing her education and household responsibilities with remarkable dedication. We are so proud of her perseverance and commitment to her studies! Twelve-year-old Marie is in 2nd grade and lives with her mother and five siblings. She wants to be a lawyer when she grows up. Marie loves cooking and she cooks daily for their household. Marie’s mother comes from the farming activities late in the evening. She depends upon Marie to come home from school and make the evening meal for the family. Normally, that evening meal is the only complete meal the family has for that day. Marie takes pride in her ability to help her mother out. Marie is thankful for the scholarship which keeps her enrolled in school. Sponsored by: Bonita Daggett
