Margaret was promoted to the fifth grade and has a passion for general science. She feels immense happiness and gratitude for the support provided by Girl Power, which has relieved her single mother of the burden of figuring out how to afford her education. Margaret’s mother works hard as a cold-water seller at the market, and thanks to Girl Power, Margaret can focus on her studies and dream of a brighter future. Sponsored by: Peggy & John Sundquist

Margret was one of the most successful students of last academic year. She obtained a double promotion to the 3rd grade. We sometimes forget how fast children grow as was evidenced by Margret’s growth when we met her a year later. 12-year-old Margaret is eager to learn and has improved in her studies with a good classroom participation record. Her favorite subject is Physical Education (PE). We give praises to our GPA supporters for the gift of education for this forthcoming doctor and send blessings the provider of the scholarship. Thanks to the generous donation from Phil Vasby, Margret has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Margret was kept in her current grade level of 1st grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her mother and still wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

Meet Margret, who has been generously sponsored by an Anonymous donor (Mohamad). She is 10 years old and is in the 1st grade this year. She lives in Kialay, Liberia with her mother. Her father died in 2012 and her mother is a farmer. Her mother does not make enough money and does not have any resources to send her children to school. Margret’s interests are treating sick people and she hopes to be a medical doctor when she grows up.
