LUCIA: S453-GBA

Lucia returned for her 2025 registration and shared that she is now repeating the third grade. She explained that her brother was sick last year, which caused her to start school late and affected her ability to complete the grade. Even so, she reported that she has improved in writing and reading and is hopeful for a successful year ahead.

Lucia continues to live with her grandmother. Her parents are unable to support her schooling, and she expressed deep gratitude that Girl Power Africa is helping her with school fees and materials. When asked what motivates her to keep learning, Lucia said her grandmother and Girl Power both encourage her to continue her education.

Her goals for this school year are to work harder, attend regularly, and pass to the next class. In the future, she hopes to become a doctor so she can help her community. Since being sponsored by GPA, Lucia said things have gotten much better for her. Sponsored by: Leif Hansen

Lucia was promoted to the fourth grade this year and is excelling in her studies. Her confidence has grown tremendously, and it shows in everything she does. This year, her peers recognized her leadership qualities and elected her as the class vice president. Lucia is not only a star student but also a big help at home. She assists with cooking, drawing water, and other household tasks. At school, she arrives early to help her teachers sweep the classroom before other students arrive.
