Lorena is now in the third grade and continues to live with her mother and siblings. Life at home is very challenging, and there are days when she goes without a meal. Despite these difficulties, Lorena is extremely grateful for the opportunity to attend school and pursue her education. Her dream is to help her mother so she doesn’t have to suffer as much, and she works hard every day to make that dream a reality. Lorena’s teachers describe her as a determined and resilient student, committed to her studies even in the face of hardship. Lorena is 13 years old and has faced many challenges in her young life. After her parents divorced, she lived with her mother and four siblings. Things took another difficult turn when her mother remarried, but sadly, her stepfather passed away suddenly. This tragedy left Lorena, her four siblings, and his three children all under the same roof. With the added responsibility of seven children, her mother is unable to provide for them all. Despite the hardships, Lorena remains hopeful and determined. She dreams of becoming a driver when she grows up, and she holds on to this ambition as a way to build a brighter future for herself.
