Laura’s teachers said, “She is active and gets along well with others”. Laura was promoted to Kindergarten-2 class and numbers is her favorite subject. She still wants to be a doctor when she grows up. With less than 500 doctors serving a population of 4.5 million people, Liberian households often experience fatalities due to treatable illnesses. Children aspiring to become doctors is a worthy cause. We are honored to walk along side Laura as she pursues her hopes and dreams. She continues to live with her grandparents. Meet Laura, who has been generously sponsored by Laura Groenier. She is 8 years old and is going to school for the first time this year in ABC. She lives in Sannequillie, Liberia with her grandparents. Laura was abandoned by her mother and father. She is living with her grandparents who could not afford to send her to school. Last year, when she and her grandmother came to our office looking for assistance for Laura, our founder, Bulleh, had asked for her name. The grandmother said “we did not give her a school name because she is not in school. We call her Baby. You can give her a name, Mrs. Norkeh.” So, we named her after the president of our GPA board of directors, Laura. Laura’s interests are fishing by using a net. She hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
