Janetta was promoted to the 5th grade this year, and she continues to show remarkable growth both at school and at home. She is still the one who takes on the responsibility of cooking for her family, and she says she’s getting better and more confident in the kitchen. When asked what her favorite food to cook is, she proudly shared that she loves preparing Cassava Leaf Soup, one of Liberia’s most popular dishes. At school, Janetta has made great strides. She is naturally shy, so just being able to speak up and interact with her teachers and classmates is a big improvement. Her dedication to learning is evident in everything she does, and she is extremely grateful for the opportunity to go to school. Despite the challenges her family faces, Janetta’s determination, resilience, and hardworking spirit continue to shine. She balances her responsibilities at home with her studies, and her progress is a testament to her strength and commitment to building a brighter future.

Jenatta is 14 years old and is in the fourth grade this year. After the death of her father, she was left in the care of her grandmother and stepmother. Her stepmother is doing her best to support Jenatta and her five children, but due to limited income, they struggle to send all the children to school regularly. Despite these challenges, Jenatta is a dedicated student who works hard in school. At home, she takes on the responsibility of cooking for the family, ensuring they have at least one meal a day. Jenatta’s determination to keep pushing forward, even when faced with hardship, is truly inspiring. Though the road has been tough, Jenatta remains hopeful for the future, and her commitment to her family and education is a testament to her strength. We’re proud of her resilience and the hardworking spirit she brings to everything she does. Sponsored by: Tera Reese-Beisbier
