James, a 9-year-old in 2nd grade, has faced many challenges at a young age. During his interview, he shared that he and his family used to live in Guinea. However, their lives changed drastically when his mother abandoned the family, leaving James, his father, and his six siblings to fend for themselves. In search of a better life, James’s father moved the family to Liberia. Unfortunately, he has not been able to find employment to support them, making life very difficult for James and his siblings. Despite these hardships, James remains optimistic and dreams of becoming a doctor when he grows up. In his spare time, James loves playing soccer with his friends, which brings him joy and helps him stay hopeful for a brighter future.
