Our future doctor, eleven-year-old Jackie, successfully passed her school year and is now in third grade. Her teacher said, “Jackie is smart and love answering questions in class”.  Though abandoned by her father, Jackie still lives with her mother who provides for her and her three siblings as best she can.  Support from GPA filled one of the major missing links in Jackie’s chances to enter and remain in school.  Her favorite subject is math and given her academic performance, confidence and commitment, Jackie is well on her way of realizing her dream of becoming a doctor thanks to GPA’s amazing sponsors. Meet Jackie, who has been generously sponsored by Beth Mitchell. She is 6 years old and in the ABC this year (ABC=first time going to to school). Jackie lives in Suakazue, Liberia with her mother. About a year ago, her father moved out of their home, leaving behind his unemployed wife and their 4 children. Jackie’s mother could not afford to send her to school.  Jackie’s interests are playing with her sisters and she hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
