2021
Thanks to the generous donation from Kathi Moest, Hellen has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to cancel double/triple promotions that were given to students the year before. Hellen’s double promotion was taken away and she is now in the 7th grade for the 2021/2022 school year. She continues to live with her parents and still wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

2019
Thanks to the generous donation from Dawn Lalley, Hellen has been re-enrolled into school for the 2019/2020 school year. She continues to want to be a doctor when she grows up. With less than 500 doctors serving a population of 4.5 million people, Liberian households often experience fatalities due to treatable illnesses. Children aspiring to become doctors is a worthy cause.

Meet Hellen, who has been generously sponsored by Dawn Lalley. She is 12 years old and in the 4th grade this year. She lives in Beagonpa, Liberia with her parents. Both of her parents are unemployed and couldn’t afford to send their 7 children to school on a regular basis. Her interests are helping her parents and she hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
