Helena barely made it to first grade. According to her teacher, Helena is in need of a tutor as her attendance was inconsistent and there is no one in her household to guide her homework and give her academic support. Helena’s teacher said she will speak with Helena’s stepmother and encourage her to support Helena’s study needs. Her favorite subject is coloring. Sponsored by: Lori Fischer Hall

Thanks to the generous donation from Lori Fischer Hall, Helena has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Helena was kept in her current grade level of K-1 grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her stepmother and she’s still not sure what she wants to be when she grows up.
