Helena is now 13 years old and was proudly promoted to the fourth grade this year. She continues to show strong dedication to her education, and math has become her favorite subject. She enjoys solving problems and challenging herself to learn new concepts, and her confidence in the classroom keeps growing. When asked what she is most grateful for in her life, Helena shared that she is deeply thankful for her sponsor, saying that their support is what keeps her in school. She understands the value of her education and does not take the opportunity to learn for granted. Helena’s determination and appreciation for the help she receives make her a bright and promising student. She continues to move forward with a positive attitude and a strong desire to succeed. Helena has been promoted to the 3rd grade and continues to excel in her studies. While she loves math, reading is her strongest subject, and her skills in this area shine brightly. This year, Helena was selected as the captain of her kickball team, demonstrating her leadership qualities both in and out of the classroom. Thanks to the generous donation from Lori Fischer Hall, Helena has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Helena was kept in her current grade level of K-1 grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her stepmother and she’s still not sure what she wants to be when she grows up.

Meet Helena, who has been generously sponsored by Lori Fischer Hall. She is 7 years old and is in the K-1 grade this year. She lives in Sehyi Geh, Liberia with her stepmother.  Her mother died from childbirth in 2012 and her father abandoned her with his ex-wife.  Her interests are playing with friends, and she is not sure of what she hopes to be when she grows up.
