HELENA: S1011-KIA

Helena is an 8-year-old girl with a radiant smile and a big dream. She is in the first grade, although her attendance at school is irregular due to her family’s financial challenges. Despite these obstacles, Helena remains hopeful about her future and dreams of one day becoming a police officer. Helena lives in a crowded three-bedroom home with her single mother and seven other family members. Her mother is currently unemployed, and the family struggles to make ends meet. Providing the basics, let alone school fees and supplies for Helena, is often out of reach. Though she cannot always attend school, Helena loves learning. She treasures the days she gets to sit in a classroom, eager to absorb knowledge and skills that will bring her closer to her dream. She imagines herself wearing the police uniform, standing tall, and serving her community with pride. Helena’s determination to rise above her circumstances is a testament to her strength.
