Helen is now 19 years old and was promoted to the sixth grade this year. She continues to work hard in school and remains a focused and determined student. Her teachers still recognize her dedication and positive attitude toward learning. This year, Helen shared that math is her favorite subject. She enjoys solving problems and challenging herself to improve. Her strong work ethic continues to set a good example for others around her. When asked if she had any concerns, Helen spoke honestly about seeing many of her friends become pregnant. She shared that she hopes to stay focused on her education and not become pregnant, as she wants to complete school first. She has promised herself that she will finish through the 12th grade before starting a family. Her maturity and clear goals for her future make us very proud. Helen remains committed to her education and determined to build a brighter future for herself. Sponsored by: Kathryn Loomans

Helen was promoted to the fifth grade this year after receiving a double promotion from third grade. Although she was unable to attend the school distribution because she was out of town, her materials were left with the school principal. According to the principal, Helen is an excellent student who consistently demonstrates hard work and dedication. She was voted as her class vice president, a position that reflects her leadership qualities and the respect she has earned from her peers. Helen is a great role model, and her positive attitude and commitment to her education inspire others to do their best. Sponsored by: Kathryn Loomans

Helen was promoted to second grade! Her favorite subject is math, and she still wants to be a nurse one day. Nurses and health care workers in general are sorely needed in Liberia where access to medical care is challenged by a limited number of health facilities and workers. GPA is honored to walk alongside Helen and encourage her dream of becoming a nurse.

Meet Helen, who has been generously sponsored by Kathryn Loomans. She is 12 years old and is in Kindergarten-1 this year. Helen lives in Sanniquellie, Liberia with her aunt. Helen’s father was never part of her life. After the death of her mother, Helen’s aunt took Helen to live with her. The aunt too has her children and could not afford to send Helen to school. She hopes to be a nurse when she grows up.
