Seven-year-old Gifty is in kindergarten class. She wants to work with computers when she grows up. Her father hunts and sells small animals for a living. Cooking stews containing “bush meat” is a favorite in Liberian cuisine. Gifty’s mother abandoned the household and her whereabouts are unknown. Gifty enjoys helping with household chores and is thankful for the gift of a scholarship. Joyce Jorgensen
