Gifty: S854-KPA

Gifty is currently enrolled in first grade after repeating the grade due to illness that interrupted her schooling. During this period, health challenges made it difficult for her to attend classes consistently, but with the continued support of Girl Power Africa, she has been able to return to school and remain engaged in her education. Assistance with school materials has helped ease the burden at home and allowed Gifty to focus on learning and rebuilding her confidence in the classroom. She is motivated to continue her studies, support her younger sibling, and work toward being promoted to the next grade. Sponsored by: Joyce Jorgensen

Gifty did not pass the first grade this year. She faced a challenging situation at home, which included a lack of care, leading to her head being shaved due to scabies affecting both her body and hair. Despite these difficulties, Gifty remains very hardworking and continues to help with cooking for her family. Her school acknowledges her dedication as a student, but notes that she is living in an uncomfortable situation due to financial difficulties at home. Sponsored by: Joyce Jorgensen

Gifty has been promoted to the first grade! She still wants to be a computer analyst one day and continues to live with her father. Her favorite subject is writing and she enjoys school a lot. After school, she helps with laundry and cleaning. Gifty said she loves it when her father comes home from hunting with meat and cooks “pepper soup” with rice… her favorite!  Sponsored by: Joyce Jorgensen

Seven-year-old Gifty is in kindergarten-2 class. She wants to work with computers when she grows up.  Her father hunts and sells small animals for a living.  Cooking stews containing “bush meat” is a favorite in Liberian cuisine. Gifty’s mother abandoned the household and her whereabouts are unknown. Gifty enjoys helping with household chores and is thankful for the gift of a scholarship. Joyce Jorgensen
