EVELYN: S438-SAN

Evelyn is now 15 years old and was promoted to the fourth grade this year. Her teacher describes her as a very serious and hardworking student who consistently puts forth strong effort in her studies. She continues to take school seriously and shows great maturity for her age. This year, Evelyn shared that her favorite subjects are reading and writing. She enjoys expressing herself and improving her skills in the classroom. Her dedication to learning is clear in the way she participates and completes her work. Sadly, Evelyn experienced the loss of her grandfather this year, which has been very difficult for her family. She continues to live with her grandmother, and despite the sadness they are both facing, Evelyn remains focused on her education. When asked what motivates her to work so hard in school, she softly explained that she wants to grow up and be able to take care of her grandmother so she does not have to suffer. Evelyn’s heart, determination, and sense of responsibility are truly inspiring. Even through grief and challenges at home, she continues to push forward with hope and purpose.

Meet Evelyn, who has been generously sponsored by Stach Auto. She is 8 years old and is going to school for the first time this year, in ABC.  Evelyn is an orphan who lives in Sanniquellie, Liberia with her unemployed grandmother.  She hopes to be a doctor when she grows up. One of the teachers in the school had brought Evelyn to the GPA team to appeal to us to please assist little Evelyn. Apparently, Evelyn goes to the school campus daily and sits by the windows to hear the teacher teaching his lesson so she can learn. After Evelyn was given the news that she’s been sponsored, she couldn’t stop thanking God for being selected to go to school.  This child’s reaction when she found out that she was sponsored brought the entire room full of teachers and GPA representatives to tears!!
