Evelyn is now 15 years old and, following a reassessment conducted at her school, she was placed back into Kindergarten 2 this year after not meeting the requirements for the second grade. While this has been disappointing for her, Evelyn has promised to work very hard, aiming not only to pass but hopefully to achieve a double promotion and catch up with her peers. Despite the setback, Evelyn remains determined and motivated to learn. She continues to benefit from the support provided by Girl Power, which has supplied her with shoes, books, a school bag, and covered her school fees—resources that give her the opportunity to focus on her education. Evelyn’s mother continues to express deep gratitude for the organization’s support, which has made a meaningful difference in their lives. With her renewed commitment, Evelyn is ready to apply herself fully this year, showing resilience and dedication as she works toward improving her academic performance and building a brighter future.

Evelyn has been promoted to the first grade! She worked extremely hard this year, often staying after class for extra help. During our GPA registration interview, she said, “Ma, I’ve never worked so hard to achieve something.” Her determination and perseverance are truly commendable, especially for a 12-year-old, and we are very proud of her accomplishments. Evelyn continues to reside with her grandmother and she still dreams of becoming a teacher one day, Sponsored by: Phil Vasby

Our upcoming female teacher, Evelyn, is still a Kindergarten-2 student. Evelyn is a shy and quiet girl with a welcoming classroom participation record but unfortunately was retained in Kindergarten-2 class. There is a need for Evelyn to improve her studies in order to fulfill her dream. We encouraged her during our visit. At eleven years of age, Evelyn is determined to make a double promotion this year to help her catch up with her age-appropriate grade level. Sponsored by: Phil Vasby

Thanks to the generous donation from Phil Vasby, Evelyn has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Evelyn was kept in her current grade level of K-2 grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her grandmother and still wants to be a teacher when she grows up.

Meet Evelyn, who has been generously sponsored by an Anonymous donor (Mohamad). She is 9 years old and is in the K-2 grade this year. She lives in Kialay, Liberia with her grandfather. Her mother abandoned her and her father shortly after her birth. Her father died in 2016 of tuberculosis. Her interests are properly educating her people and she hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.
