Evelyn is beaming with pride as she enters the seventh grade! Reflecting on her journey, she never imagined she’d come this far. With each day at school, she embraces her education wholeheartedly, wearing her uniform as a badge of honor. Living with her mother, she nurtures her dream of one day becoming a teacher. Twelve-year-old Evelyn was promoted to sixth grade!  She has some great leadership skills and is the president of her class. She is looking forward to a new school year. We are cheering you on Evelyn! She still resides with her mother and dreams of becoming a teacher one day.  Sponsored by: Jennifer Zschernitz

June 2019

We are pleased to announce that Evelyn was promoted to the 3rd grade for the 2018/2019 school year. Lori Kong, thank you for your sponsorship and giving your student a gift of education through Girl Power Africa.

Meet Evelyn, who has been generously sponsored by Lori Kong. She is 13 years old and, in the 2nd grade this year. She lives in Barpa, Liberia with her mother who is a petty farmer with very limited income to support she and her 7 children. Evelyn and her sibling go to school on a rotational basis (with priority being given to the boys). The boys go to the school one year and then Evelyn and her sisters go the following year. This year was Evelyn’s turn to stay home. But she really wanted to go to school, so she came to Girl Power for assistance to please help her to go to school. Evelyn hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.
