Evelyn is now 21 years old and has advanced to the ninth grade. She is a very serious and focused student who continues to take her education to heart. Her commitment to learning shows in her consistent effort and quiet determination in the classroom. As she grows older, Evelyn shared a concern about being 21 and wondered if that might mean she would no longer be able to continue receiving support for her education. She was reassured that as long as she remains in school and continues to do well, she will be supported until she completes high school. This brought her great relief, and her shy smile reflected the hope she felt knowing she is not alone on this journey. Evelyn continues to benefit from a supportive home environment that encourages her to stay focused on her studies. With renewed confidence and determination, she is working toward finishing high school and building a brighter future. Meet Evelyn, who has been generously sponsored by Lori Kong. She is 13 years old and, in the 2nd grade this year. She lives in Barpa, Liberia with her mother who is a petty farmer with very limited income to support she and her 7 children. Evelyn and her sibling go to school on a rotational basis (with priority being given to the boys). The boys go to the school one year and then Evelyn and her sisters go the following year. This year was Evelyn’s turn to stay home. But she really wanted to go to school, so she came to Girl Power for assistance to please help her to go to school. Evelyn hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.
