Edith is now 12 years old and is repeating the third grade this year. After a reassessment at her school, it was decided that she would benefit from more time to strengthen her lessons before moving to the next grade level. Although she was not promoted, this extra time is helping her build a stronger foundation in her learning. Edith shared that math is her favorite subject. She enjoys working with numbers and continues to put effort into her schoolwork. After school each day, Edith goes home and walks to a nearby creek to fetch water for her family. She carries water back so it can be used for cooking, washing dishes, and other household needs. Despite her many responsibilities at home, Edith remains a hardworking and determined student. She continues to dream of becoming a tailor one day and is grateful for the opportunity to stay in school and keep learning. Sponsored by: John Callicott

Edith was promoted to the third grade this year. She still dreams of becoming a tailor one day. Edith lives with her parents, and although she loves to play soccer after school, she often doesn’t have enough time. After school, she has to hurry home to fetch water from the well. She draws about 10 gallons of water each day for her family to use for bathing, cooking, and cleaning. Edith is a very hardworking girl, dedicated to both her studies and her responsibilities at home. Despite the challenges, she is enjoying school and is excited to continue learning.
