 Comfort is now 12 years old and was proudly promoted to the second grade this year. This achievement means a great deal to her, especially after repeating first grade previously, and she is determined to continue moving forward. Her hard work and perseverance are clearly paying off. Comfort shared that science is now her favorite subject, and she enjoys learning about how the world works. She remains a focused and motivated student, and her teachers continue to see her commitment to her education. When asked about her greatest fear, Comfort spoke honestly and bravely. She said she is afraid of becoming pregnant like a close friend who had to drop out of school. This experience has deeply motivated her to work hard, stay focused, and make choices that will allow her to finish high school before starting a family. Comfort continues to live with her single mother and remains hopeful and determined about her future. She still dreams of becoming a leader one day and is grateful for the opportunity to be in school. Thanks to the generous donation from Lori Fischer Hall, Comfort has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year.  Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Comfort was kept in her current grade level of ABC grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her mother and still wants to be a president when she grows up.

Meet Comfort, who has been generously sponsored by Lori Fischer Hall. She is 6 years old and is going to school for the first time in ABC. She lives in Gbayden, Liberia with her widowed mother. Comfort’s father died 18 months ago in a motorcycle accident when he was coming from work.  Her interests are playing, and she hopes to be a president when she grows up.
