Blessing is now 16 years old and has been promoted to the 7th grade this year. She continues to live with her aunt and remains deeply committed to her education and her dream of becoming a doctor. At home, Blessing carries heavy responsibilities. After school, she goes to the well to draw water, carries it home, and then prepares the family’s meal. She shared that her family eats only once a day, in the evening, after she finishes cooking. When asked if she attends school hungry, she quietly replied, “You just learn to control your stomach. We only eat when I get home in the night.” Her strength and endurance are far beyond her years. Despite these daily challenges, Blessing remains a focused and disciplined student. Her teachers continue to describe her as serious about her studies and a positive presence in the classroom. Though she is naturally quiet, she leads by example through her hard work, respect, and determination. Blessing’s resilience is truly inspiring. She understands that education is her pathway to a better future, and she is willing to sacrifice and persevere to reach her goals. We are incredibly proud of her courage and commitment. Thank you for continuing to support Blessing and for helping her stay on the path toward her dreams. Sponsored by: Joyce Jorgensen

Thanks to the generous donation from Richard Sanders, Blessing has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Blessing was kept in her current grade level of 3rd grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her aunt and still wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

Meet Blessing, who has been generously sponsored by Richard Sanders. She is 10 years old and is in the 3rd grade this year. She lives in Sopea, Liberia with her aunt. When Blessing was about 2 years old, her father who was a traveling salesman, left town and has never been heard from. Blessing’s mother left her with her aunt to go search for employment in Monrovia 3 years ago and has not returned. Her interests are to help save lives and she hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
