Blessing is now 19 years old and was promoted to the 10th grade this year. Despite becoming a young mother, she has shown extraordinary determination and strength in continuing her education. Blessing carried her pregnancy, delivered a beautiful baby boy, and continued attending school throughout it all — and she still passed to the next grade level. Her commitment to her lessons speaks volumes about how serious she is about building her future. Blessing shared that she enjoys working with computers. What began as an exciting first experience with technology has grown into a genuine interest. She is eager to keep learning and developing her computer skills, hoping they will open doors for her in the future. Balancing motherhood and school is not easy, but Blessing is doing it with maturity and resilience. With the support of her mother and the opportunity to stay in school, she is determined to complete her education and create a stable, bright future for herself and her son. Blessing’s journey shows courage, perseverance, and a deep desire to succeed. We are incredibly proud of her strength and dedication. Sponsored by: Joyce Jorgensen

Blessing received a double promotion to the ninth grade! At fifteen years old, she is determined to succeed despite the challenges she faces. One of the highlights of her journey this year was working with a computer for the first time, which she described as the most amazing feeling in the world. This experience has sparked a newfound interest in technology, and she dreams of exploring more opportunities to develop her skills in this area. Blessing is pregnant this year, but her resilience shines as she continues attending school with the goal of completing her education. Blessing’s mother has promised to be there for her and support her during her pregnancy and after the baby is born. Her determination to push forward and overcome obstacles is an inspiration to her peers. She continues to live with her mother and remains grateful for the support that makes her educational journey possible. Sponsored by: Joyce Jorgensen

Fifteen-year-old Blessing was promoted to 6th grade! Her favorite subject is math and her teacher reports she’s a hard working student who completes all of her school lessons early. Because of her good grades, GPA selected her to spend a day with us as our GPA Box Drive boxes arrived! The day was filled with sorting, organizing, (and food, music, and dancing), and she even got to choose a few items of her liking. We all had a great time and are proud of her hard work. Her favorite pastime activity is cooking for her family. She still wants to be a nurse one day. She continues to live with her mother. Sponsored by: Justin Babler

Thanks to the generous donation from Justin Babler, Blessing has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She was promoted to the 5th grade this year and still wants to be a nurse when she grows up. Nurses and health care workers in general are sorely needed in Liberia where access to medical care is challenged by a limited number of health facilities and workers. GPA is honored to walk alongside Blessing and encourage her dream of becoming a nurse. She continues to live with her mother.

Meet Blessing, who has been generously sponsored by Patricia Shabaz. She is 12 years old and is in the 2nd grade this year. Blessing lives in Sanniquellie, Liberia with her unemployed mother. Blessing did not go to school last year as she was waiting for Girl Power to help send her to school. Entering and remaining in school is a tricky venture for many Liberian children. At times families can afford to pay for one semester with hopes of acquiring funds to continue. Oftentimes, children must start, stop, start school again depending upon the financial situation of the parents. Blessing hopes to be a nurse when she grows up.
