AMELIA: S200-BOA
November
2023
Amelia has been promoted to the fifth grade, demonstrating exceptional performance throughout the year. Her report card, adorned with all blue marks, signifies outstanding achievement. In Liberia, where many parents are unable to read or write, colors such as blue and red serve as clear indicators: blue represents passing, while red signifies failing. Amelia’s pride in her all-blue report card is evident, reflecting her hard work and dedication.
Continuing to reside with her father, Amelia remains focused on her aspiration of becoming a doctor one day. Her determination and academic success serve as a testament to her commitment to realizing her dreams. Sponsored by: D’Anna Freiberg

Thanks to the generous donation from D’Anna Freiberg, Amelia has been re-enrolled into school for the 2019-2020 school year. Amelia has not completed the 2nd grade and was unable to attend the back-to-school distribution as she was a part of the FGM. However, her school materials were left with the school to be given to her upon her return. She still wants to be a police officer when she grows up and she still lives with her father.

Meet Amelia, who has been generously sponsored by Judy Bablitch. She is 12 years old and in the 1st grade this year. Amelia lives in Boapea, Liberia with her father. Amelia’s mother has 4 children and could not afford to send her to school. She was sent to her father to live, with the understanding that he was going to send Amelia to school. Unfortunately, he too is unemployed and couldn’t afford to send her to school. She hopes to be a police officer when she grows up.
