Akie was proudly promoted to the third grade this year, an achievement that brought her great joy and confidence. She shared that reading is now her favorite subject, and her continued love for books has helped her grow stronger in her studies. According to the school registrar, Akie is a very serious and focused student who truly puts in the effort to do well in school. Meet Akie, who has been generously sponsored by Lori Fischer Hall. She is 10 years old and is going to school for the first time in ABC grade. She lives in Gbayden, Liberia with her mother. Akie’s father abandoned the family when he met a new lady about 3 years ago. Since he left, they have not heard from him. Her mother is unemployed and could not afford to send Akie and her 2 siblings to school. Her interests are singing, and she hopes to be a singer when she grows up.
