RUTH: S1086-GBA

Ruth is now 11 years old and has been promoted to the 3rd grade this year. Despite the many challenges she continues to face, Ruth is moving forward with strength and quiet determination. Her favorite subject is science, and she enjoys learning how things work and understanding the world around her. Ruth still lives with her stepfather, who carries the heavy responsibility of supporting a very large household. Life remains difficult, and Ruth contributes in every way she can. After school, she goes to the creek with her friends to fetch water, carrying it home so her family can cook and have something to drink. When we asked Ruth what she does in her free time, she looked at us with confusion. The idea of “free time” is unfamiliar to her. From the moment she wakes up until she goes to bed, she is either helping at home or focusing on school. There is little room in her day for rest or play. Yet through it all, Ruth remains grateful for the opportunity to attend school. She understands how easily that opportunity could be taken away, and she does not take it for granted. Her resilience and hardworking spirit are truly remarkable. Thank you for continuing to support Ruth and giving her the chance to build a brighter future. Sponsored by: Michelle Keller

Ruth is 10 years old and currently in the second grade. She lives with her stepfather after her mother abandoned her following their separation. Her stepfather, who is already supporting 12 other family members, struggles to meet the financial demands of providing for everyone and is unable to send Ruth to school consistently. Despite these challenges, Ruth remains hopeful for a brighter future and is grateful for every opportunity to attend school. Sponsored by: Nancy Lind
