REBECCA:E1019-SAN

November 2025:  Rebecca is a 53-year-old single mother of five whose strength and determination continue to inspire us. For years, Rebecca supported her family by cooking and selling hot meals—locally known as GB. Through this small business, she did her best to provide food and basic needs for her children. Despite never having the opportunity to attend school herself, Rebecca has always held one dream close to her heart: to see her children educated and given a better future. That dream was interrupted when one of her children became seriously ill. To save her child’s life, Rebecca used all of her savings—about $75. While the decision was easy for a mother, the aftermath was not. Since then, Rebecca has struggled to get back on her feet, and today, none of her children are able to attend school due to financial hardship. Yet, Rebecca has not given up. She shared that her greatest motivation comes from the encouragement she has received from Girl Power Africa and her deep desire to send her children back to school. With this empowerment, Rebecca plans to restart her GB business, rebuild her income, support her family, and begin enrolling her children back in school—one step at a time. Rebecca is extremely grateful for this gift of business. To her, it represents more than income—it represents hope, dignity, and a second chance. At Girl Power Africa, we believe that when women like Rebecca are empowered, entire families—and future generations—are transformed. Thank you for standing with Rebecca.
