Blemie is now 9 years old and has been promoted to Kindergarten 1 this year. He is excited to continue his education and shared that his favorite subject is math. When we asked him why, he quickly replied with a big smile, “Because I like to count.” His enthusiasm for learning is simple and sincere. Blemie still lives with his father, who continues to do his best to care for his children despite being unemployed. Life remains challenging, and Blemie plays an active role in helping at home. After school, he goes to the creek to fetch water for the family and carries it back home before the evening meal is prepared. He loves playing soccer and dreams of becoming a doctor one day. However, by the time he finishes helping at home and the family eats—usually around seven in the evening—he is often too hungry or it is too late to go out and play. Even so, his passion for soccer remains strong whenever he gets the chance. Blemie’s joyful spirit and determination continue to shine despite his circumstances. We are grateful he has the opportunity to attend school and take steps toward his dreams.
