November 2025:  Yei is a 42-year-old devoted mother and caregiver whose life has been defined by resilience and generosity. She is a divorced mother of three, but her heart has extended far beyond her own children. She has taken in five additional children—her siblings’ children—who could not be cared for, making her a mother to eight in total. Life has been a constant struggle as she works tirelessly to provide for them all. When she heard about Girl Power Africa’s empowerment program, Yei arrived at the office at the crack of dawn, eager for the opportunity to rebuild her livelihood. Through the program, she received the farming tools she needed and was placed in a team of women who work together to cultivate a larger farm, share the labor, sell their produce, and divide the proceeds to support their families. Yei is extremely grateful for this opportunity. With the support of her team and Girl Power Africa, she can provide food for her children, support the children she has taken in, and work toward sending all of them to school—something she dreams of deeply.
