OPHELIA:E1051-MAO

November 2025:  Ophelia is a 43-year-old mother of three, and she has lovingly taken in four more children, making her the guardian of seven children in total. Her journey has been challenging, especially after her fiancé ended their engagement when he met someone younger. This left Ophelia feeling lost and uncertain about her next steps. Ophelia and her fiancé had been dedicated to corn farming, but on her own, the work proved too labor-intensive. Seeking help, she turned to Girl Power Africa, hoping to find the support she needed to continue her farming and provide for her family. With the assistance of Girl Power Africa, Ophelia received the farming materials she needed and was placed in a team of women from her town. Together, they work the land, share the labor, and collectively cultivate a larger farm. This teamwork not only helps Ophelia manage the workload but also allows them to share the produce and support their children’s education. Although Ophelia has never been to school herself, she is deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with other women in her community. Together, they are building a brighter future for their families, ensuring that their children have the education and opportunities they deserve. Ophelia’s story is a testament to strength, resilience, and the power of community. She is grateful for the support that allows her to nurture her family and build a hopeful future.  To sponsor a woman in need with a one-time $100 tax-deductible gift, please visit: www.girlpowerafrica.org/donate
