MUSU:E1042-MAO

November 2025: Meet Musu, a 53-year-old single woman whose life is marked by devotion to family, perseverance, and hope for the next generation. Musu is a mother of three children and a grandmother to four grandchildren who live with her. After the passing of her husband, she welcomed her grandchildren into her home, finding comfort in being surrounded by her children and grandchildren while providing them with love, stability, and care. Musu was one of the very first women to arrive at the Girl Power Africa distribution—coming at the crack of dawn to wait in line—determined that this would be the year she would be empowered. Her early arrival reflected not only her eagerness, but also her deep commitment to doing whatever it takes to provide for her family. Through Girl Power Africa, Musu received farming tools and the opportunity to work in a team setting where women combine their labor to create larger, more productive farms. By sharing their efforts, they are able to grow more food, sell their produce together, and strengthen one another through collective work. This support has renewed Musu’s sense of hope and possibility. Musu has never been to school herself, and she knows how limiting life can be without an education. Her greatest dream is to be able to educate both her children and her grandchildren so they can have opportunities she never had. She is extremely grateful for the support she has received and for the chance to be part of a community that believes in shared effort and shared success. Musu’s story is one of gratitude, determination, and enduring love—a powerful example of how empowerment can uplift entire generations.
