November 2025:  Mamie is a 39-year-old single mother of two children. A few years ago, her life changed dramatically when her sister passed away, leaving behind five children. Without hesitation, Mamie took her sister’s children into her home and is now helping to raise a total of seven children. Providing for such a large family has been extremely difficult. Determined to stand on her own feet, Mamie came to Girl Power Africa seeking help with farming materials and the opportunity to work alongside other women in a team. Through Girl Power Africa, she was empowered with the tools she needed and connected with a supportive group of women who will farm together, share the labor, and sell their produce collectively. Mamie has never had the opportunity to attend school, but she carries a deep sense of responsibility and strength. When she received her empowerment, she came with tears in her eyes and said, “Old Ma, thank you. Thank you for helping me stand back up on my feet.” Mamie is deeply grateful for this opportunity and thanks Girl Power Africa and all the sponsors and supporters who made it possible for her to provide for her children and rebuild her life with dignity and hope.
