November 2025:  Florence is a 37-year-old widow and devoted mother of four. A few years ago, she lost her husband, and with his passing came immense challenges. Florence shared that she felt completely helpless at first, because farming—especially the heavy labor of cutting trees and preparing the land—is extremely difficult to do alone as a woman. Determined to provide for her children, Florence turned to Girl Power Africa for support. She patiently waited on the program’s list for about three years, and finally, the opportunity to receive assistance arrived. With farming materials and the chance to join a team, Florence can now return to farming—not alone, but alongside a group of 15–25 women, depending on their community size. Florence is deeply grateful for this team-based approach. Together, the women will farm collectively, sell their produce, and generate income to support their families. For Florence, the most meaningful part of this empowerment is the hope it brings for her children. Since the passing of her husband, her children have not been able to attend school, but with the income from farming, she is excited to start sending them back in the coming year.
