ESTHER:E1044-MAO

November 2025:  Meet Esther, a 63-year-old grandmother of seven whose life reflects quiet strength, generosity, and deep love for her family and community. Many years ago, Esther lost her husband, and since then she has continued to farm with the help of her children and grandchildren. Together, they work the land to provide food and support for their household. However, farming has become increasingly difficult. The work is very tedious, and the tools they have relied on for years often break easily, making an already demanding task even harder. Because of these challenges, Esther came to Girl Power seeking additional farming tools so she could continue farming and caring for her family. With stronger, more reliable materials, she is now better equipped to sustain her farm and pass on the responsibility and knowledge to the younger generation working alongside her. When asked what she hopes will come from her farming, Esther’s answer was simple and heartfelt. Beyond caring for her own family, she hopes to help make her community better. She plans to share some of the food they produce with neighbors who are in need, believing that no one should go hungry if they can help it. Her desire to give back, even while carrying so much responsibility herself, reflects her generous spirit. Esther has never been to school, and she knows the limitations that come with not having access to education. Her greatest hope is that her grandchildren will have opportunities she never did and be able to attend school and build brighter futures. She is extremely grateful for the support she has received and for the chance to continue farming with dignity and purpose. Esther’s story is one of gratitude, compassion, and resilience—a powerful reminder that true strength lies in caring not only for one’s own family, but for the entire community.
