November 2025:  Deborah is a 52-year-old widow, mother of three, and grandmother of three grandchildren who live with her full-time. After the passing of her husband, one of Deborah’s daughters sent her three children to live with Deborah, saying it would “keep her company.” While this brought family closer, caring for the three children has been a great responsibility and challenge. Deborah and her late husband used to farm together, but since his passing, she has found it difficult to continue on her own. Farming alone is physically demanding, and without the proper materials, it seemed impossible to keep the farm running. Through Grow Power Africa, Deborah has received the farming materials she needed and has been placed in a team of women. Together, they are farming rice, sharing the labor, and selling the produce collectively. Deborah is extremely grateful for this opportunity, which allows her to put food on the table for herself and her grandchildren and, in the future, begin sending them to school.
