October 2019: Thanks to the generous donation from Patty Glennon, Lucian has been re-enrolled into school for the 2019-2020 school year. 

June 2019: We are pleased to announce that Lucian was promoted to the 4th grade for the 2018-2019 school year. Patty, thank you for your sponsorship and giving your student a gift of education through Girl Power Africa. 

2018:  Meet Lucian, who has been generously sponsored by Patty Glennon. She is 11 years old and in the 3rd grade this year. She lives in Barpa, Liberia with her grandmother. Lucian’s mother died 4 months ago from a brief illness. (In some parts of Liberia, when a child’s parent dies, the child’s hair is shaved for new growth, new opportunities and new beginning. Hints, that’s why Lucian’s hair was shaved in this picture). She is living with her grandmother would could not afford to send her to school this year. Lucian hopes to be a nurse when she grows up.
