LORPU: S428-SAN

September 2020– Thanks to the generous donation from Randy Tetzlaff, Lorpu has been re-enrolled into school for the 2020/2021 school year. She is in the 1st grade this year and still wants to be a teacher when she grows up. She continues to live with her grandmother’s friend.

2019:  Meet Lorpu, who has been generously sponsored by An anonymous donor (GB). She is 8 years old and is in the K2 this year. She lives in Sanniquellie, Liberia with her grandmother’s friend. Lorpu’s mother and father abandoned her when she was about 3 years old. She has been living with her grandmother. Unfortunatly, her grandmother passed away about 3 months ago and she was takend in by her grandmother’s friend.  Lorpu hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.

Please note that Lorpu‘s hair was shaved off due to the following reason: In some parts of Liberia, women, especially first daughters and wives, are known to shave off their heads when grieving their husbands, mothers, fathers and grandparent’s death, as a sign of respect to the dead and as a new beginning. Lorpu’s grandmother passed away 3 months ago.
