January 2024: Fifty two year old Musu is a widow, and provides for her family of seven through subsistence farming and cutting/selling wood.  Wood is used as an alternative for cooking meals among families who cannot afford to purchase charcoal.  She shared when her husband passed away, they were living with his extended family and eventually, she had to find a place of her own.  She constructed a makeshift dwelling by making a large rectangular frame containing small rooms from poles crossing over each other, dubbed the pole structure with mud, and wood to make windows and doors…..the structure is covered with a thatch (braided grass) roof.    Musu wants to construct a house one day. Such hard work and critical thinking will carry Musu a long way in achieving her goal of home ownership.  She was awarded a farming supplies package to expand her farming enterprise.
